City of Momence City Council met Jan. 17.

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk present.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the minutes of the, January 3, 2022. Alderman Strunk seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey and Strunk voting yes. Aldermen Temple and Cook passed.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Strunk seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

CITIZENS FORUM – Nova Metz inquiring on what was happening with the water/sewer rates. Mayor indicated that the council is still working on the issues.

OLD BUSINESS –

ALDERMANIC REPORTS – Alderman Cook – planning/zoning request to rezone R1 to B1. The commission recommended to vote no. Alderman Cook made motion to reject the request. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting followed the motion.

Alderman Salomone –BF meeting February 7, 7:15 PM

Alderman Starkey – The ordinance for water/sewer should be ready by next meeting. Discussed the notice for the residents. Once rates are set, they will be added to the ordinance. This should be ready to go by 02/07/22.

Department Heads – Tina – audit is complete, draft was forwarded to the Mayor and Alderman Salomone.

Treasurer report –

MAYORAL REPORT – Grant has been applied for Dixie rehab. The businesses are in favor.

Mayor requested executive session to come out to do business. Alderman Cook made motion to move into executive session. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Adjourned to executive session 7:43 PM

Returned to open session 7:53 PM

Alderman Carbonaro made motion to approve a 3.5% salary increase for Scott Behrends, Tina Demack and Mark Nelson. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes. Alderman Clark voted no.

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn. Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 7:54 PM
