ONU SWIM AND DIVE GARNER CSCAA SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICA TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released on Monday its selections for the Scholar All-America teams and also released on Wednesday its selections for individual Scholar Academic All-America.  Both the Olivet Nazarene University men's and women's swim and dive teams were recognized as Scholar All-America teams and also saw numerous selections to the individual Scholar Academic All-America list.

The women's team is one of only 12 schools that were recognized as a Scholar All-America team while the men's team were one of only 10 schools that garnered the honor.  Both teams are joined by Morningside and Saint Mary (Kan.) as the only Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) schools to crack the list.

In order to qualify as a team for the Scholar All-America team, the institution's head coach must be a CSCAA member, and boast a GPA of 3.0 or higher, combined in the Fall and Winter semesters.  In order to qualify for the individual Scholar All-America, the student-athlete must boast a GPA of 3.50 or higher, they must be in good academic standing with their team and school throughout the entire season and must have participated in the National Championship or achieved an individual provisional standard time.

Praise for Coach Kelly Essler

The CSCAA Executive Director had this to say about Olivet Nazarene, "Coach Essler is developing a program that will be a model in the pool and the classroom."
