Everyday people might not get a good enough look at the Illinois State Police cruisers to consider it calendar worthy, but Sen. Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) is asking Illinoisans to support state troopers in an ongoing contest.
The Illinois troopers are competing against their colleagues across the nation to earn a spot in the ninth calendar that the American Association of State Troopers (AAST) is putting out to raise funds for scholarships.
“Help the Illinois State Police win ‘Americas Best Looking Cruiser’!” Barickman posted on Facebook. “The 9th Annual AAST ‘America’s Best Looking Cruiser’ calendar contest is underway!"
The AAST is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to uniting and assisting state troopers in all the states. Its website says its scholarship program, partially funded by calendar sales, is one of its more noteworthy endeavors.
Voting is open online through Thursday. You can find pictures of the cruisers from all 50 states and you can vote for your favorite.
The top 13 states will be featured in the 2023 calendar, with the first place state earning a cover spot for its vehicle.
Barickman was elected to the state Senate in 2012.
