City of Watseka Finance, Legal, Audit and Insurance Committee met July 19

City of Watseka Finance, Legal, Audit and Insurance Committee met July 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Aldermen Barragree, Cahoe, Marcier, Miller, Alderwomen Ulfers and Musk and Mayor Allhands

ABSENT: Alderman Garfield and Rushbrook

Alderman Barragree opened the meeting at 8:52 pm. There was no public comment. Alderman Barragree makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept the June treasurers report and Alderman Cahoe seconded. Roll call carried 7-0. 

Alderman Barragree stated a transfer needs to be made for the crack sealing jobs and the alley behind the Presbyterian Church between S 4th & S 5th St. Alderman Cahoe makes a motion to recommend to the Council to transfer $199,813 from the general fund 1-10-8000 into the street and alley fund 6-10-9000 and Alderwoman Ulfers seconded. Roll call carried 7-0. 

Mayor Allhands stated the quote has come in today for the employee’s health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield and it has gone up 2.5%. Alderman Barragree makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept the quote from Blue Cross Blue Shield with the 2.5% increase and Alderman Cahoe seconded. Roll call carried 7-0. This will make the monthly premium $13,042.35.

Mayor Allhands stated he has given the committee information from Next Site about the convention they were at.

Mayor Allhands also reported a group of individuals will be in town on Thursday to see about possibly opening a restaurant.

Alderman Barragree makes a motion to adjourn at 8:56 pm and Alderman Miller seconded. Roll call carried 7-0.
