Sen. Jason Barickman posts about Indigenous People’s Day on Facebook.
In an Oct. 10 Facebook post, Barickman acknowledged Indigenous People's Day.
"Happy Indigenous Peoples Day!" Barickman said.
He also acknowledged Columbus Day with a Facebook post. "Happy Columbus Day!"
In September, he also encouraged his constituents to take part in webinars to advance farm safety. "Barickman announced the event in a Facebook post this week. "Each day during National Farm Safety & Health Week, AgriSafe will host two FREE webinars to advance farm safety practices!" he said in the post.
He also spoke about the pragmatic decisions that had to be made for school funding. In an Aug. 29 article on evidence-based funding in Illinois, Barickman spoke of the necessity of passing legislation on school funding. “It was a politically practical, pragmatic decision," Barickman said. "I was very focused on getting something done. And it was very apparent to me that we weren't going to get something done without a hold-harmless. So while I think a hold-harmless has policy challenges, we weren't going to let perfection get in the way of getting something done."
