Illinois State Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Bourbonnais) is doing her part to make sure needy families in her district have something to eat for the holidays by helping Kankakee State's Attorney Jim Rowe with a food drive.
Haas shared information about the drive in an Oct. 25 Facebook post.
"I'm so proud to be helping Kankakee States Attorney Jim Rowe as a collection site for his Thanksgiving Food Drive," Haas wrote in the post. "Please drop off non-perishable food items, baby formula and grocery gift cards at my office Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 from now until November 18th!"
In her Facebook post, Haas shared Rowe's post that outlined additional details about the drive. Haas' Office on 370 E. Court Street in Kankakee brought the drive's total number of drop-off locations to three. Other locations included the Dollar General at 171 S. Dixie Highway in St. Anne, and Matt Waite State Farm at 1053 W. Broadway in Bradley. Donation pickups can also be arranged by calling Chris Borchardt at (815)-295-9910.
Back in September, Haas has shared news that the Illinis Department of Natural Resources could be on the receiving end of millions of dollars under the federal Recovering America's Wildlife Act (RAWA) which passed the U.S. House and had bipartisan support in the Senate.
In early October, Haas reflected on her time as an Erickson Institute Executive Fellow. In a Facebook post, she said, "this program was inspiring and I am honored to have had this opportunity to learn, witness firsthand, and lend my own input to our early childhood education system."
