Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by the Committee Chairman, Mr. Hess at 7:30 a.m.

Public Comment

None

Approval of Minutes: July 13, 2022

Mr. Long made a motion to approve and Ms. Parker seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Judicial – Chief Judge Thomas Cunnington

Judge Cunnington was not present, but submitted a letter to be read regarding courthouse elevator safety.

Circuit Clerk’s Office - Sandi Cianci

• Monthly Report

Ms. Cianci provided the committee with reports, there were no questions or comments.

Mr. Ekhoff made a motion to approve the report, and Mr. Liehr seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Ms. Cianci commented about the need for handrails in the courthouse elevator.

State’s Attorney’s Office – Jim Rowe

John Coghlan was present to review the report.

• Grand Jury Report

• Grand Jury Statistics Report

Mr. Swanson made a motion to combine and approve the reports and Ms. Peters seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Public Defender’s Office – Ed Pentuic

• Monthly Report

Mr. Pentuic reviewed the report with the committee.

Mr. Long made a motion to approve, and Mr. Fairfield seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Probation – Randy Turner

• Monthly Report

Mr. Latham was unable to attend and Mr. turner reviewed the report.

There are currently 3 openings within his office.

Drug Court will take place on September 1 at 10:30am.

Mr. Peters made a motion to approve, and Mr. Liehr seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Sheriff/EMA Department – Mike Downey

Sheriff Downey was present to review the reports with the committee.

• Monthly Report

Mr. Gessner reviewed the report with the committee. Discussions were held. Mr. Carrico made a motion to approve, and Mr. Ekhoff seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote

Sheriff Downey commented on the collaboration with Kankakee and the Gray Key software. Discussions were held about the benefits to the county.

• Animal Control Update

Sheriff updated the committee on Animal Control.

Coroner’s Office – Eric Cavender

• Monthly Reports

• Monthly Receipts of Money

Mr. Cavender was present and reviewed the reports with the committee.

Mr. Ekhoff made a motion to combine and approve, and Ms. Peters seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Old Business/New Business

Mr. Snipes commented on fundraising efforts for a local resource officer that is battling breast cancer.

Mr. Kerkstra made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:26 a.m., and Ms. Peters seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.
