Kankakee County Executive Committee met Sept. 27.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Members Present 

Mr. Sirois, Mr. Liehr, Ms. Polk, Mr. Fetherling, Mr. Fairfield, Ms. Parker, Mr. Carrico, Mr. Long, Mr. Miller, Mr. Hunter, Ms. Foster and Mr. Wheeler

Members Absent 

Mr. Hess and Ms. Webber

Anita Speckman, Karen Smietanski, John Bevis, John Coghlan, Kevin Duval 

Media Present

Call to Order 

The meeting was called to order by the County Board Chairman, Mr. Wheeler, at 9:00 a.m. Quorum present.

Quorum was present. 

Public Comment 

None

Approval of Minutes: August 23, 2022 

Ms. Polk made a motion to approve the minutes and Mr. Fairfield seconded. Motion carried with a voice vote. 

Legislative 

none

Information Services – Kevin Duval 

Mr. Duval provided an update to the committee.

Health Department – John Bevis 

Mr. Bevis provided an update to the committee. Discussions were held regarding vaccines.

Schools 

Quarterly Report of the Iroquois Kankakee Regional Superintendent of Schools 

Mr. Liehr made a motion to approve, and Mr. Long seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote. 

Veterans Assistance Commission – Karen Smietanski 

• Monthly Report

Ms. Smietanski reviewed the report with the committee.

Mr. Carrico made a motion to accept the report, and Ms. Parker seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Ms. Smietanski updated the committee on the move to the new location. There will be an open house on November 11 at the new location.

Finance – Steve McCarty 

Discussion of 55 ILCS 5/5-2006 for VAC

Mr. McCarty reviewed the impacts of a bill that will be effective January 1 concerning the VAC. Discussions were held.

County Administrator’s Report – Anita Speckman 

Monthly Update 

Ms. Speckman provided the committee with an update on job openings within the county. There are 14 open positions currently.

Ms. Speckman updated the committee on the labor negotiations that have taken place and are scheduled next.

Ms. Speckman updated the committee on the insurance renewals and will review in depth at the Finance Committee meeting.

Mr. Miller made a motion to combine and approve, and Mr. Long seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

• One Opening on the Momence and Yellowhead Drainage District No. 1

Mr. Fetherling made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:16 a.m., and Ms. Polk seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.
