City of Gilman City Council met Dec. 12

City of Gilman City Council met Dec. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the city council was called to order by Mayor Theesfeld.  Council responding to roll call were: Bachman aye, Elliott aye, Fancher aye, Eimen aye, McGehee aye and Kraft aye. Clerk Kraft and Treasurer Morris were also present.

            Moved by McGehee        Seconded by Bachman    

to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on November 14, 2022.  All aye.

            Moved by Elliott        Seconded by Fancher

to approve the transfer of $6,400.00 from the general fund to the road & bridge fund. All aye.

Mayor Theesfeld advised the council of the new 2023-2024 contract with the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department and said it is contingent on Iroquois County Board passing it at their next meeting. The new contract will begin on January 1, 2023.

            Moved by McGehee        Seconded by Kraft

to approve the Iroquois County Sheriff’s contract for January 2023 to December 2024 in the amount of $75,012.62.  All aye.

Mayor Theesfeld advised the council of the Piggush Engineering Proposal for the 3rd and Maple Street Improvement Project which will have two parts. First is for the construction and to oversee the bidding process for 3rd Street to Thomas and Maple Streets and 3rd to 2nd Street. The second part of the project is to design 3rd St. to the railroad tracks which would be a 2024 project. It would all be designed this year and we would be billed as construction happens. 

            Moved by Elliott        Seconded by Bachman

to approve the Piggush Engineering Proposal of $144,440.00 for the 3rd and Maple Roadway Improvement Project. All aye.

Mayor Theesfeld let the council know that Iroquois Paving Company donated $2,000.00 to the City of Gilman to distribute to the community for those who are in need.  God’s Food Pantry, Life Church, BVS Love Fund and Catholic Church’s program for people in need were each given $500.00.

Alderman Bachman had nothing to discuss.

Alderman Elliott had nothing to discuss.

Alderman Fancher had nothing to discuss.

Alderman Eimen said he received confirmation that the Ventrac snow removal equipment would be delivered to Gilman Auto Parts by the end of the week

Alderman McGehee had nothing to discuss.

Alderman Kraft had nothing to discuss.

            Moved by McGehee        Seconded by Elliott

to approve the bills as they were presented. All aye.

            Moved by McGehee        Seconded by Bachman

to adjourn the regular meeting at 7:13 p.m. All aye.
