OLDEN AND SWEARINGEN NAMED TO CSC ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM | Olivet Nazarene University
Barik Olden and Caleb Swearingen were named to the 2022-23 All-District Men's Basketball Team as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Nominees must be starters or important reserves, sophomores or older, with at least 3.50-grade point averages. Click HERE to view the entire list of honorees.
The duo are starters for an ONU team that recently won their fifth-consecutive CCAC regular-season title. The Tigers just defeated Holy Cross 88-64 in the opening round of the CCAC Tournament and will host IU-South Bend in the semifinal round Thursday night.
Olden, a senior guard from Groveland, Ill., has started all 29 games for the ONU team this season. The Tiger captain is averaging 8.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game this season. Olden is pursuing his degree in Sport Management from ONU.
Swearingen, a sophomore guard from Brazil, Ind., has started in 26 of ONU's 29 games this season. He is averaging 9.3 points per game and is bringing down a team-leading 5.8 rebounds per contest. Swearingen is majoring in Physical Education.
The two Tigers will now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-March.
