Village of Chebanse Village Board met Jan. 16.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

Mayor Mathy called the Regular Village Board meeting to order at 7:00 pm on January 16, 2023. The  following Trustees were present: Trustee Beherns, Trustee Kohler, Trustee Odle, Trustee Randles and  Trustee Snyder. Trustee Perzee was absent. Also present were Mayor Mathy, Clerk Pasel and James  Smith from Maintenance. 

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Mathy 

APPROVAL OF BOARD MEETING MINUTES: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by  Trustee Snyder to approve the December 19, 2022 Board meeting minutes.

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion was made by Trustee Snyder and a second by Trustee  Kohler to approve the December 31, 2022 Treasurer’s Report.

BILL STATEMENT: A motion was made by Trustee Snyder and a second by Trustee Randles to approve  the Bill Statement for January 16, 2023.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS 

DE-ANNEXATION OF ROADS: Clerk Pasel informed the Board that Brian Hertz is preparing the plats of  de-annexation. 

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: NONE 

REPORTS OF VILLAGE OFFICERS: Clerk Pasel reported that the Doctors office is scheduled to open  February 1, 2023. Everyone is welcome to attend the ribbon cutting. 

James reported that Water Well Solutions was here and installed a new motor on the pump. They did  not find any holes in the casing. The recent samples that were taken showed no bacteria.

James stated that we have about $66,000.00 left in American Rescue Act money. He is getting quotes on  items that he would like to see the money spent on.  

James stated that the mower is approaching the 5-year mark. He would like the Board to consider  purchasing a new one with the next budget. Mayor Mathy asked if anyone had any issues with James  looking into a new lawnmower. James stated that he will check on a trade in price vs selling it outright.  James just completed a lead and copper site plan audit. IEPA wants a complete listing of everyone’s  water service lines. We do not have any lead in town.  

James met with the representative from the circus this past week and gave him the deposit. The circus is  scheduled for Monday, June 5th.  

NEW BUSINESS 

ANNUAL STATEMENT: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Odle to  approve the Annual Statement ending April 30, 2022 and have it published in the Advocate.

MEMORIAL BENCH: A motion was made by Trustee Snyder and a second by Trustee Beherns to approve  purchasing a bench for the bus stop out of the Haunted House fund, cost not to exceed $1,850.00.

COMMUNICATIONS 

Mayor Mathy stated that there was a thank you card from the Gerald Mathy family if anyone would like  to read it.  

RESIGNATION OF TRUSTEE BEHERNS: Mayor Mathy read a resignation letter to the Board from Trustee  Beherns. Mayor Mathy thanked Trustee Beherns for his service to the Village of Chebanse. Mayor Mathy  stated that he would like for Trustee Beherns to keep his keys. No one had any objections. A motion was made by Trustee Snyder and a second by Trustee Randles to appoint Dave Allen to Adams  seat.

Mayor Mathy administered the Oath of Office to David Allen.  

Mayor Mathy stated that Adam was a signer on the Village accounts. It is his recommendation that  Adam be removed and Trustee Snyder, as the most tenure Trustee be added. With no objections from  the Board, Trustee Snyder will be added to all Village accounts.  

ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Trustee Odle and a second by Trustee Randles to adjourn the January 16, 2023 Village Board meeting. Time 7:40 pm.
