Q3 2022 Recap: 14 parolees from Kankakee County convicted of drug crimes set for release

There were 14 offenders convicted of drug crimes living in Kankakee County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Kankakee Times.

The data shows 12 men and two women were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 40. The youngest parolee was a 28-year-old woman sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 68-year-old man sentenced in 2022.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Marcus L. Pope. He was convicted in 2018 when he was 25 years old. He is now 30.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
