Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met March 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

6:41 PM Meeting called to Order / Pledge

Roll call was taken, all members were present except for Clerk Scott Dillman and Trustee Robin Bruni.

*Motion to approve previous minutes from 3/06/23 meeting with corrections: that there was a profit of $6,367.34 for the CFR event. Motion: Weidl, 2nd: Danahey Motion Carried 4-0-1

Public Comments:

• Seamus & Andrea of Flanagan’s – asking for a specific liquor license for a new building that will be a Laundromat and gaming café. Mr. Santschi was present to explain that a pour license will be required but that the board is free to create different licenses.

• Marty Faye of Fortitude Community Outreach – Introducing permanent emergency shelter.

*Motion to approve bills for payment:

3/16/23 General Fund $12,124.09, Motor Fuel Tax Fund $158.36, Am Rescue Plan Act Grant $540.00, TIF Fund $5,950.00. Payroll ending 3/04/23 $18,246.61, Stipend ending 3/10/2023 $2,400.00.

Motion: Morgan, 2nd: Danahey Motion carried 5-0-0

Departmental Reports:

Clerk, Dillman:

• Mr. Dillman was absent but listed on the agenda that 2024 license applications have been sent, return due date is April 12.

Engineer’s Report:

• Safe Routes to School project to start in the fall.

Ordinance & Insurance, Raloff:

• Move to extend business licensing date from 5/1/23 to 9/1/23 for this year. Motion: Raloff, 2nd: Coats Motion carried 5-0-0

Streets &Alleys, Coats:

• Motion to table engineering services agreement of Safe Routes to Schools until engineer can answer questions. Motion: Coats, 2nd: Wiedl Motion carried 5-0-0

• Some residents of Lake Metonga complained that Dollar General’s parking lot lights shine too brightly into their yard.

• Residents requesting removal of yellow ribbons because they have become very tattered.

Finance, Morgan:

• Motion to waive the park rental fee for Chamber of Commerce in lieu of membership.

Motion: Morgan, 2nd: Danahey Motion carried 5-0-0

Community Outreach, Wiedl:

• Easter at the Park April 2nd, 1:00 to 4:00 PM. In need of someone to wear the Easter Bunny costume. Set up will be at 9:00 AM

Buildings and Grounds, Bruni: Absent

Law Enforcement, Danahey:

• Would like to revive discussions of Village Hall renovations, would like to have the website cleaned up and utilize calendar of events.

• Trustee Wiedl suggested increased posting of information on Facebook page.

• Village President interested in a new website.

Chief Frey:

• Year In Review Police Brochure

Pres. Hawkins:

• Next meeting 4/3/23 at the Village Hall

• Will look into Post Prom donation from her budget.

• Simulation training this weekend at the High School
