Village of Manteno Board of Trustees met June 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting was called to order by Village President Timothy Nugent, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll call of the Board was made by the Village Clerk.

Motion by Crockett seconded by Dole to waive the reading of the minutes and approve the regular Board Meeting minutes of May 15, 2023, as presented by the Clerk.

Motion approved: 6-0

Public Participation: None

Reports of Village Officials: 

Village President’s Report: Mayor Nugent  

• Update on recent Shred Day Event and Movies in the Park by Jacob Knox

o June 16th – Rockin on the Square and Golf Cart Parade

Village Administrator’s Report: Chris LaRocque  

• Property Tax rebate will be available again this year. Application and information will be available at the Village of Manteno website or by visiting the Manteno Village Hall. Residents must meet the eligibility criteria and have their taxes paid in full to the County Treasurer’s deadline of September 6, 2023. Completed applications and all documentation must be turned in by 4:00 pm October 31st, 2023.

Next Parks and Recreation meeting has been cancelled.

Public Safety and Health- Trustee Dole

• Ordinance 23-04: An Ordinance authorizing the Sale of Personal Property (Surplus Municipal Equipment). The Village is preparing to sell off any excess or unwanted office equipment from the old police department after the move to the new location.

• Warning to residents on a driveway paving scam that is being seen in the northern communities. Here are some things for residents to be aware of:

o Selling door to door on their services

o Saying they have “leftover asphalt” from a previous job

o Pressure you to make a quick decision

o No contract offered

o Cash sales only

o Using unmarked trucks

o Seems too good to be true

Call the police if they come to your door.

Next Public Safety & Health meeting Wednesday June 14, 2023, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room Planning and Zoning- Trustee Crockett 

Nothing on the agenda tonight.

The next Planning and Zoning Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday June 27, 2023, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room. The next Planning Commission meeting is cancelled for Tuesday June 13, 2023, at 6:00 pm at the Village Board Room

Finance: Trustee Gesky 

• Payment of bills $157,760.99 (includes TIF #1 bills of $2,496.22) 

• Bills authorized and paid between Board Cycle: $46,783.66 

The next Finance meeting will be held Wednesday June 14, 2023, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room. General Government- Trustee Phillips

Mayor Nugent read the items to be included on the Consent Agenda. The consent agenda is as follows: Old Business: (A)

1. Ordinance 23-04: An Ordinance authorizing the Sale of Personal Property (Surplus Municipal Equipment).

Awarding of Bids/Contracts and Authorization to Purchase (C)

Financial Reports: (D) 

1. Motion to approve payment of bills in the amount of $157,760.99 (TIF #1 Bills - $2,496.22) Motion by Martin seconded by Gesky to take a single roll call vote on the question of passage of agenda items as designated for voting purposes on the consent agenda.

Motion Approved 6-0

Motion by Dole seconded by Phillips to approve by an omnibus vote those ordinances, resolutions, motions, and orders contained on the consent agenda.

Motion Approved 6-0

Motion by Martin to adjourn at 6:19 pm. Seconded by Boyce

Motion approved 6-0
