State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) will be co-hosting a Prescription Drug Drop Off event in Bourbonnais, inviting constituents from the 79th District to participate. The event will take place on Saturday, October 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Northfield Square Mall East Parking Lot in Bourbonnais.
The purpose of the event is to provide a safe and proper way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. Rep. Haas emphasizes the importance of safely disposing of these medications to ensure the safety of the community. She states, "While we look to the colder months, we may be clearing out our medicine cabinets and need to know how to properly dispose of prescription medications. Safely disposing unused or expired prescription medications is crucial to keeping our communities safe. I look forward to hosting this event again in the fall to provide a safe option for 79th District constituents."
Constituents can find the Pledge for Life Partnership Tent near the LensCrafters entrance on the east side of the mall. The event will accept tablets, capsules, other solid forms of prescription drugs, patches, and vaping devices and cartridges (with lithium batteries removed). However, liquids, syringes, and needles are not accepted.
The Prescription Drug Drop Off event is a collaborative effort with community partners including Pledge for Life Partnership, I-KAN Regional Office's Life Education Center, Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group (KMEG), and the Kankakee County Health Department. Rep. Haas' office can be contacted at (815) 523-7779 for any questions regarding the event.
This event provides an important opportunity for constituents to safely dispose of their unused or expired prescription medications. By properly disposing of these medications, the community can help prevent misuse and abuse, ultimately ensuring the well-being and safety of everyone.
