Kankakee County taxpayers paid the 29th largest sum in sales taxes in June, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Kankakee County residents paid $622,591 in sales taxes during June.

Kankakee County ranked 38th in the Prairie State the month before, with $482,650 spent in sales taxes.

The Countywide Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Kankakee County residents in June.

Illinois is currently the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 39.83% higher than the national average.
