Ashley Ramos, a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, has announced that Caroline Helregel, a 98-year-old woman known as "Rosie the Riveter," will be at the Iroquois County Republican Committee Lincoln Day Dinner. Ramos conveyed her admiration for her home county’s committee for its efforts in organizing an event that honors military families and community members who have made significant contributions to history through their hard work and patriotism.
"We got a Rosie! 98 year old Rosie the Riveter, AKA Caroline Helregel will also be joining us at the Iroquois County Republican Committee Lincoln Day Dinner!" Ramos said on Facebook.

The dinner is set to take place on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m., at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milford. Attendees can enjoy a chicken dinner, participate in raffles, and engage with candidates, thereby promoting political involvement and community connections. Tickets are priced at $25 and can be purchased by messaging Ramos on social media or emailing icrccdinner@yahoo.com, according to the event poster. The event promises an evening of political engagement and camaraderie.
According to her campaign website, Ramos is an e-commerce specialist and mother who holds a notary license and CPR certification. While currently residing in Bradley with ties to Chicago Heights, she spent her early years in Momence. In 2005, she completed her education at Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School before pursuing radiology courses at Kankakee Community College. Ramos' diverse skill set is complemented by her notary license and CPR certification.
The 2nd Congressional District, which includes the south suburbs of Chicago, eastern Will County, most of Kankakee County, and Chicago’s far southeast side, is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.). Kelly has held the position since 2013 and also serves as the Chair of the Illinois Democratic Party, according to Ballotpedia.
