Village of Herscher Board of Trustees met Jan. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Village President Shannon Sweeney called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The following Trustees were present: Mike Bruner, Skip Grigas, and Gayle Landeck. Andy Cotter, Jeremy Bauer, and Jacob Wagner were absent. Also, present Village Deputy Clerk Vannessa Weaver, Attorney Chris Bohlen, Public Works Keith Witheft.

Gayle Landeck moved to approve the Regular minutes of December 18, 2023; Skip Grigas seconded. All in favor; Motion carried.

STREETS:

Mike Bruner moved to approve the seasonal snowplow pay rate to $24.00 hour. Skip Grigas seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Shannon Sweeney-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

Mike Bruner moved to approve the estimate for Jill Marcotte for repairing damage to Jill’s garage roof due to a Village tree falling on it. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Shannon Sweeney-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

President Shannon Sweeney said he would like to look into a new company to do the Christmas Lights downtown, our current contract is up.

FINANCE:

Mike Bruner presented the Accounts Payable Report totaling $58,170.82 to the Board for payment. Mike Bruner moved to accept the accounts payable as presented. Skip Grigas seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Shannon Sweeney-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

Payroll presented totaled $21,572.17. Mike Bruner moved to accept payroll as presented, Skip Grigas seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Shannon Sweeney-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

PARKS:

Nothing to report.

WATER AND SEWER:

Village Deputy Clerk Vannessa Weaver discussed writing off closed water/sewer accounts that haven’t been paid, she had spoke to Carmen Huizenga from SDKO and Carmen stated this can be done as long as Board approved. The Board discussed and we will reach out to a few owners and then write off the other accounts to get the system cleaned up.

Public Works Superintendent Keith Witheft let the Board know that the letter has been signed and sent back for the lead pipes that need to be replaced at 261 N Maple.

Keith Witheft added that the generator at the Sewer Plant is no long working and we will need to start looking into a new one.

ORDINANCE:

Gayle Landeck moved to approve the final reading of Ordinance #23-19. Mike Bruner seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Shannon Sweeney-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

Gayle Landeck added that we had one permit issued in December for $1400.00.

Nothing to report.

OLD BUSINESS:

Nothing to report.

NEW BUSINESS:

Nothing to report.

OPEN TO THE FLOOR:

Nothing to report.

Motion to adjourn by Shannon Sweeney. Seconded by Gayle Landeck. All in favor. Motion carried.
