State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) has successfully navigated four bills through various committees, setting the stage for them to be discussed on the House floor. Speaking on the achievement, Rep. Haas expressed her satisfaction, stating, “I am proud to say that four bills I filed have moved out of committee this week. All of these bills received unanimous, bipartisan support."

One of the bills, House Bill 5174, passed the Personnel & Pensions Committee with a vote of 11-0. This bill aims to extend retirement annuities to sheriff’s law enforcement officers who transition into roles as school security guards.

Another bill, House Bill 4450, made its way through the Judiciary-Criminal Committee with a vote of 15-0. This legislation focuses on categorizing the drug xylazine as a Schedule III controlled substance, except for its use in veterinary care.

Furthermore, House Bill 4059 successfully garnered support in the Child Care Accessibility & Early Childhood Education Committee with a vote of 14-0. This bill is designed to establish licensing orientation programs for individuals aspiring to become daycare providers.

Lastly, House Bill 5039 passed through the Transportation: Regulations, Roads & Bridges committee with a vote of 14-0. The bill highlights the lack of requirement for the content of a sign on a business property to be related to the business itself.

Looking ahead, Rep. Haas expressed optimism, stating, “I look forward to continued bipartisan support on these bills that will address some of our state’s most critical issues.” These bills add to the list of successful legislation spearheaded by Rep. Haas, including House Bill 4883 and House Joint Resolution 58.
