Speaking on the achievement, Rep. Haas expressed her satisfaction, stating, “I am proud to say that four bills I filed have moved out of committee this week. All of these bills received unanimous, bipartisan support."
One of the bills, House Bill 5174, passed the Personnel & Pensions Committee with a vote of 11-0. This bill aims to extend retirement annuities to sheriff’s law enforcement officers who transition into roles as school security guards.
Another bill, House Bill 4450, made its way through the Judiciary-Criminal Committee with a vote of 15-0. This legislation focuses on categorizing the drug xylazine as a Schedule III controlled substance, except for its use in veterinary care.
