Village of Manteno Board of Trustees met March 4.

The meeting was called to order by Village President Timothy Nugent, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Alexis McCullough, Life Scout, Troop 319G, St. George, IL.

Roll call of the Board was made by the Village Clerk.

Motion by Phillips, seconded by Martin, to waive the reading of the minutes and approve the regular Board Meeting minutes of February 20, 2024, as presented by the Clerk.

Motion approved: 4-0 Gesky abstained, Boyce absent

• Recognition of Sgt. Mike Berns who is retiring from the Manteno Police Department

• Recognition of Carter Watkins, State Wrestling Champ from Manteno High School Public Participation:

Reports of Village Officials:

Village President’s Report: Mayor Nugent

• Presentation by Alexis McCullough, Life Scout, troop 319G of St. George, IL., who is working on her Eagle project of erecting a Gold Star Families Memorial Monument. Information will be available at the Manteno Village Hall and at her Facebook account: McCullough Gold Star Eagle Project.

Village Administrator’s Report: Chris LaRocque

Committee Reports:

Public Works- Trustee Boyce, absent, covered by Trustee Martin

• Consideration RE: A motion to award the bid for Thies Park, Phase 2 Improvements to Tenco Excavating, Bourbonnais, IL, for a cost of $2,075,972.75. Jim Hanley commented that the Village received 2 bids (5 packets were picked up), which were then reviewed by HRGreen and recommended the selection of Tenco Excavating, Inc.

Next Public Works meeting on Tuesday March 26, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room. Parks and Recreation- Trustee Martin

Nothing on the agenda tonight

• Seasonal pool passes for the Kankakee Valley Park District (KVPD) Splash Valley pool will be available to the Village of Manteno residents at a discount rate. Village of Manteno residents need to fill out an application at the Manteno Village Hall if they are interested.

Next Parks and Recreation meeting has been cancelled. Next scheduled meeting will be in Spring 2024. Public Safety and Health- Trustee Dole

• There has been an increase in street racing, which can be organized in minutes by using online notification by car clubs. If you come across this, please try to avoid the area and call 911. Next Public Safety & Health meeting Wednesday March 13, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room Planning and Zoning- Trustee Crockett

The next Planning and Zoning Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday March 26, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room. The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday March 12, 2024, at 6:00 pm at the Village Board Room.

• Payment of bills $240,501.17 (includes TIF #3 bills of $480.00)

• Bills authorized and paid between Board Cycle: $40,637.35

The next Finance meeting will be held Wednesday March 13, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room.

General Government- Trustee Phillips

Motion by Gesky seconded by Dole to take a single roll call vote on the question of passage of agenda items as designated for voting purposes on the consent agenda.

Motion Approved 5-0 Boyce absent

Motion by Crockett seconded by Gesky to approve by an omnibus vote those ordinances, resolutions, motions, and orders contained on the consent agenda.

Motion Approved 5-0 Boyce absent

Motion by Gesky to adjourn at 6:49 pm. Seconded by Crockett
