Village of Manteno Board of Trustees met May 20.

The meeting was called to order by Village Clerk Robin Batka followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call of the Board was made by the Village Clerk.

Clerk Batka asked for a motion to appoint a Mayor Pro Tem in the absence of Mayor Nugent. Trustee Crockett made the motion to appoint Trustee Gesky as the Mayor Pro Tem for tonight’s meeting. Seconded by Trustee Boyce. Motion approved 5-0 Phillips absent

Motion by Boyce, seconded by Martin, to waive the reading of the minutes and approve the regular Board Meeting minutes of May 6, 2024, as presented by the Clerk.

Motion approved: 4-0 Crockett abstained, Phillips absent

Reports of Village Officials:

Village President’s Report: Mayor Pro Tem Gesky

• Manteno High School Football door to door fundraiser request for the dates of July 10 – July 22, 2024. They will be selling discount cards for $25.00 to raise money to update shields and purchase a blocking sled. Gesky requested that the motion include that all businesses listed on the discount card be actively in business .

Motion by Gesky to approve the Manteno High School Football fundraiser to sell discount cards door to door for the dates of July 10, 2024, to July 22, 2024, with the stipulation that the business listed on the discount card must be active and in business. Seconded by Dole. Motion Approved 5-0 Phillips absent

Village Administrator’s Report: Chris LaRocque

• Announcement of resignation of Ryan Marion

Committee Reports:

Public Works- Trustee Boyce

Next Public Works meeting on Tuesday May 28, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room.

Parks and Recreation- Trustee Martin

• Consideration RE: A motion to approve a contract for the Legacy Park Improvements - Phase 1 to Tenco Excavating, Bourbonnais, at a cost of $595,100.14

Next Parks and Recreation meeting will be as needed

Public Safety and Health- Trustee Dole

• 9 pm routine of taking all valuables out of your car, locking the doors, turn on outside lights. Call the police if you see anything suspicious

• Congratulations to the Middle school track team on their state championship on Saturday

• Congratulations to the graduates of Manteno High School and the Middle School who had ceremonies this past weekend.

• The Legion will be doing Memorial Day ceremonies at the local cemeteries on Monday May 27th, ending with a parade at 10:45 am from the Legion to Legion Park with a service at 11:00 am

Planning and Zoning- Trustee Crockett

Nothing on the agenda tonight

The next Planning and Zoning Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday May 28, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room. The next Planning Commission meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday June 11, 2024, at 6:00 pm at the Village Board Room.

Finance: Trustee Gesky

• Payment of bills $223,014.36 (includes TIF #3 bills of $0)

• Bills authorized and paid between Board Cycle: $0

The next Finance meeting will be held Tuesday June 25, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room. General Government- Trustee Phillips, absent

Motion by Gesky for payment of the bills in the amount of $223,014.36, including no TIF 3 bills. Seconded by Boyce. Motion Approved 5-0 Phillips absent
