City of Watseka Finance, Legal & Audit Committee met June 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Aldermen Marcier, Cahoe, Barragree, Miller, Muench, Anderson, Alderwomen Rohlfs and DeLahr and Mayor Allhands

Alderman Marcier opened the meeting at 6:30 pm. There was no public comment. Alderman Marcier makes a motion to recommend to the council to accept the May treasurers report and Alderwoman DeLahr seconded. Roll call carried 9-0.

Alderman Marcier and Mayor Allhands gave a quick update regarding the J C Pennys building. Mayor Allhands stated he was given some information stating maybe the building will be worth saving now. Building Inspector Eric Brandt is still waiting on more information from the engineering firm.

Alderman Marcier makes a motion to recommend to the council to transfer $200,000 from the general fund 1-10-8000 into the street and alley fund 6-10-9000. Alderman Cahoe seconded. Roll call carried 9-0.

Alderman Marcier reported to the committee the electronic recycling event will be held on 9/7/24 and he will be going to the county meeting soon to see if they are willing to split the cost again. Last year the total bill was $6300.00. There is a list on the line at blhcomputers.com regarding what items will be accepted.

Alderwoman DeLahr asked about the intergovernmental agreement at Loveridge Lane for the drainage. She stated she doesn’t remember discussing the agreement. Mayor Allhands stated the council approved the expenditure of monies. This agreement will be on full council agenda next week.

Alderman Anderson stated he has given the committee 2 different ordinances regarding dumpsters. He would like everyone to look them over. He also handed out an ordinance that Milford just passed regarding gas powered bikes.

Alderman Marcier makes a motion to adjourn at 6:38 and Alderman Barragree seconded. Roll call carried 9-0.
