Village of Manteno Board of Trustees met Aug. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting was called to order by Village President Timothy Nugent, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

There was a moment of silence for the passing of Brian O’Keefe, a former Village Supt. Of Public Works. Roll call of the Board was made by the Village Clerk.

Motion by Boudreau, seconded by Gesky, to waive the reading of the minutes and approve the regular Board Meeting minutes of August 5, 2024, as presented by the Clerk.

Motion approved: 4-0 Dole absent, Boyce abstained

The Mayor made a presentation of recognition to former Trustee Sam Martin, acknowledging his 11 years of service and the accomplishments he achieved as Trustee.

The Clerk swore in our newest police officer Jeremy Mrazek.

Village President’s Report: Mayor Nugent

• Request by the Knights of Columbus to hold their annual Tootsie Roll fund raising drive to benefit “People with Disabilities”. This will be their 55th year for the fund drive. They are requesting to have their event on Friday September 6th and Saturday September 7th at various business locations.

o Motion by Gesky, seconded by Crockett to approve the request by the Knights of Columbus to hold their annual Tootsie Roll fund raising drive on the dates of Sept 6th & 7th, 2024. 5 Ayes 0 Nays 1 Absent (Dole) Motion approved

• Request for a Block Party by the residents of South Poplar Circle for the date of August 24, 2024. Required form submitted with the resident’s signatures /addresses.

o Motion by Boudreau, seconded by Crockett, to approve the Block Party request by the residents of South Poplar Circle for August 24th. 5 Ayes 0 Nays 1 Absent (Dole) Motion approved

• Ordinance 24-09- An Ordinance amending Title 6, Public Ways and Property, by changing Chapter 7, Construction of Facilities in the Rights-of-way, of the Manteno Municipal Code Next Public Works meeting on Tuesday August 27, 2024, at 7:00 am Village Board Room Parks and Recreation- Trustee Boudreau

• Thanked Chief Swinford for tour of the Manteno Police Department

• Looking for ideas for the area in the Square on Second, where the tree will be removed after Octoberfest.

Next Parks and Recreation meeting will be scheduled if needed

The next Planning and Zoning Committee meeting has been CANCELED for Tuesday August 27, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room. The next Planning Commission meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday September 10, 2024, at 6:00 pm at the Village Board Room.

• Payment of bills $338,126.35 (includes TIF #3 bills of $0)

• Bills authorized and paid between Board Cycle: $0

The next Finance meeting will be held Tuesday August 27, 2024, at 7:00 am at the Village Board Room. General Government- Trustee Phillips

Mayor Nugent read the items to be included on the Consent Agenda and asked the Board if any item should be taken off and voted on separately.

1. Motion to approve payment of bills in the amount of $338,126.35 (TIF #3 - $0) Motion by Phillips seconded by Gesky to take a single roll call vote on the question of passage of agenda items as designated for voting purposes on the consent agenda.

Motion Approved 5-0 Dole absent

Motion by Boyce seconded by Boudreau to approve by an omnibus vote those ordinances, resolutions, motions, and orders contained on the consent agenda.

Motion by Gesky to adjourn at 6:31 pm. Seconded by Crockett
