Westmont Village Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Aug. 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order

Chairman Qualizza called the August 24,2024, Special Meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners to order at 7:30 a.m. The meeting took place in the second floor Training room of the Westmont Police Department Building at 500 N. Cass Avenue

2. Roll Call

Chairman Qualizza - Present; Commissioner Mulhearn-Present, Commissioner Baldwin- Present, A Quorum was present.

Guest: None

3. Public Comment

None

4. Ongoing Business

On this day, the Board conducted oral interviews of entry level patrol Officer Candidates. These candidates were taken from the certified eligibility list of non-certified officers. The candidates were individually escorted to the Chiefs Conference Room where the candidates completed a short written biography. The candidates were then escorted to the Training Room at the Westmont Police Department where the oral interviews were conducted.

Candidate # 15 Completed the oral interview process after which the candidate was dismissed from the proceedings. The Commissioners deliberated on the candidate's oral interview performance. Chairman Qualizza made a motion to advance the candidate to the polygraph phase of the hiring process. Commissioner Mulhearn seconded the motion.

Vote: Aye: 3 Nay: 0

Motion Passed- Candidate to be notified

Candidate # 13 Completed the oral interview process after which the candidate was dismissed from the proceedings. The Commissioners deliberated on the candidate's oral interview performance. Chairman Qualizza made a motion to advance the candidate to the polygraph phase of the hiring process. Commissioner Baldwin seconded the motion.

Vote: Aye: 3 Nay: 0

Motion Passed- Candidate to be notified

Candidate # 19 Completed the oral interview process after which the candidate was dismissed from the proceedings. The Commissioners deliberated on the candidate's oral interview performance. Chairman Qualizza made a motion to advance the candidate to the polygraph phase of the hiring process. Commissioner Mulhearn seconded the motion.

Vote: Aye:3 Nay: 0

Motion Passed- Candidate to be notified

Candidate # 16 Completed the oral interview process after which the candidate was dismissed from the proceedings. The Commissioners deliberated on the candidate's oral interview performance. Chairman Qualizza made a motion to advance the candidate to the polygraph phase of the hiring process. Commissioner Baldwin seconded the motion.

Vote: Aye: 0 Nay: 3

Motion Failed- Candidate to be notified

Candidate # 18 Candidate failed to show up or contact the Commission about their interview. The Board voted on this candidate based on these facts. Chairman Qualizza made a motion to advance the candidate to the polygraph phase of the hiring process. Commissioner Baldwin seconded the motion.

Vote: Aye: 0 Nay: 3

Motion Failed Candidate to be notified

5. Adjournment

Chairperson Quallizza made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:30 p.m. seconded by Commissioner Baldwin.

Vote: All in favor-3 Opposed-0

Motion Passed- Meeting adjourned
