Westmont Village Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Aug. 30.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order

Chairperson Qualizza called the August 30, 2024 Special Meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners to order at 6:00 p.m. The meeting took place in the second floor Conference room of the Westmont Police Station at 500 N. Cass Avenue.

Guests: None

2. Roll Call

Roll call of Officers was performed by Chairperson Quallizza- Present, Secretary Mulhearn- Present, Commissioner Baldwin- Present A quorum was present

3. Public Forum:

No members of the public were present thus no Public Forum comments

4. On Going Business:

The personal background investigation reports for the Commission conducted by the Detective Division of the Westmont Police Department were reviewed and voted on by the Commission. The results were:

Candidate #13 taken from the eligibility list was reviewed. Chairperson Qualizza made a motion to make a conditional offer of employment to this candidate and move this candidate onto the psychological and medical (if applicable). Seconded by Commissioner Baldwin.

Vote: All in favor- 3

Opposed-0

Motion carried

Candidate #11 taken from the eligibility list was reviewed. Chairperson Qualizza made a motion to make a conditional offer of employment to this candidate and move this candidate onto the psychological and medical (if applicable). Seconded by Commissioner Mulhearn

Vote: All in favor-3

Opposed-0

Motion Carried

Candidate #6: taken from the eligibility list was reviewed. Chairperson Qualizza made a motion to make a conditional offer of employment to this candidate and move this candidate onto the psychological and medical (if applicable). Seconded by Commissioner Baldwin

Vote: All in favor- 0

Opposed-3

Motion Failed

Commissioners conducted an oral interview follow their established procedures for Candidate #21 who had asked to reschedule due to DNC Convention. The Board chose to reschedule. The Board met and voted on this candidate after Chairperson Qualizza made a motion to move this candidate onto the Polygraph testing phase of our review Vote: All in favor-3

5. Meeting Dates

The date of September 5, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. was set for the commission to meet for their review of eligible candidates who participated in our polygraph testing process.

6. Adjournment

Chairperson Qualizza made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Seconded by Commissioner Baldwin

Opposed-0

Motion Carried- Meeting adjourned
