CALL to ORDER and ROLL CALL

The Board of Education of Cissna Park Community Unit District #6 was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by President Kristina Phelan, with the following Board members and administrators present: Mrs. Bret Neukomm; Mrs. Kristina Phelan; Mr. Trent Kaeb; Mr. Jason Edelman; Mr. Brent Neukomm, Mrs. Bethany Dodd; and Ms. Tori Legan; Dr. Daniel S. Hylbert, superintendent; Mrs. Wendy Niebuhr, grades K-5 principal; and Mrs. Kelly Swalls, board secretary.

APPROVAL of AGENDA

Mrs. Dodd made the motion, seconded by Mr. Kaeb to APPROVE THE AGENDA as presented. Discussion. Vote: Ayes, all. Motion carried.

HEARING of DELEGATIONS

APPROVAL of CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS

Mr. Edelman made the motion, seconded by Mr. Neukomm to APPROVE THE RECOMMENDED ACTION ON THE FOLLOWING CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS AS PRESENTED: V. Minutes and Executive Session Minutes; VI.B. FINANCIAL REPORTS and PAYMENT of BILLS / PAYROLL

Mr. Kaeb made the motion, seconded by Ms. Legan to APPROVE THE BILLS FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER AS PRESENTED: Education Fund, $139,361.88; Operations and Maintenance Fund, $48,410.54; Transportation Fund, $9,004.58; IMRF / Social Security Fund, $6,584.44; and Tort Immunity, $3,457.07. Discussion. Vote: Mr. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Dodd, aye; Ms. Legan, aye; Mrs. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; Mr. Kaeb, aye; and Mr. Edelman, aye. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Negotiations and Personnel

Mrs. Dodd made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Neukomm to APPROVE THE EMPLOYMENT OF PRESTON KYLES AS 7TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL COACH WITH DUTIES TO BE ASSIGNED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT. Discussion. Vote: Mr. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Dodd, aye; Ms. Legan, aye; Mrs. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; Mr. Kaeb, aye; and Mr. Edelman, aye. Motion carried.

REPORT FROM PRINCIPALS

Mrs. Niebuhr stated that the fourth and fifth grade classes thoroughly enjoyed their field trip. The PTO held a surprise snack day for students and provided cider and donuts. The door wraps look amazing and was done by Fastlane Wraps. She thanked Chad at Fastlane and Jodi Halleran who coordinated the project. Parent teacher conferences are being held this week. The book fair is also being held this week and every elementary student is to receive a free book courtesy of the school district.

Mrs. Phelan read a statement from Mrs. Hurliman. Volleyball is starting regionals on the 28th and football playoffs will start in a few weeks. The FFA program is headed to the National Convention starting on Wednesday. The homecoming dance is November 2nd. Testing results from the 2023-2024 school year: junior high is exemplary and high school is commendable.

Mr. Edelman made the motion, seconded by Mr. Neukomm to UPHOLD SUSPENSION #092324 ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2024 (HALF DAY). Discussion. Vote: Ayes, all. Motion carried.

Ms. Legan made the motion, seconded by Mrs. Dodd to APPROVE THE HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS EXTRACURRICULAR POLICY PER ATTACHED COPY WITH AMMENDEMTS MADE: THE WORD PROM REMOVED FROM NUMBER THREE. Discussion. Vote. Mr. Kaeb, nay; Mr. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Dodd, nay; Ms. Legan, aye; Mrs. Neukomm, aye; Mrs. Phelan, aye; and Mr. Edelman, nay. Motion carried.
