OFFICIAL REPORT OF PROCEEDINGS

The Iroquois County Board met in Organizational Session on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 9:30 A.M. at the Administrative Center in Watseka, Illinois. County Clerk Breein Suver called the meeting to order.

PRAYER & PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

County Board member Chad McGinnis gave the opening prayer after which the Pledge of Allegiance was recited in unison.

AGENDA

It was moved by Mr. McGinnis and seconded to approve the agenda. The motion carried by a voice vote.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

There were no public comments

OATH OF OFFICE

County Clerk Breein Suver administered the oath of office to the newly elected County Board members. County Clerk Suver called the roll.

NOMINATIONS FOR CHAIRMAN

County Clerk Breein Suver asked for nominations for County Board Chairman. It was moved by Mr. Alt and seconded to nominate Paul Ducat as County Board Chairman. It was moved by Mr. McGinnis to nominate Mr. Behrends as County Board Chairman. The motion to nominate Mr. Behrends as County Board Chairman failed due to a lack of a second.

County Clerk Breein Suver conducted a roll call. The following members cast their vote for nominee Mr. Ducat: Alt, Bakken, Bard, Behrends, Crow, Ducat, Geiger, Huse, McGinnis, Munsterman, Perkinson, Watts, Whitlow, Williams. Mr. Ducat accepted election as County Board Chairman with vote of 14 to 0.

NOMINATIONS FOR VICE-CHAIRMAN

County Board Chairman Ducat asked for nominations for County Board Vice Chairman. It was moved by Mr. Geiger and seconded to nominate Scott Watts as County Board Vice-Chairman. It was moved by Mr. McGinnis and seconded to nominate Donna Crow as County Board Vice Chairman.

County Clerk Breein Suver conducted a roll call, asking each member to state the name of the nominee of their choice for County Board Vice-Chairman. The following members cast their vote for the first nominee Mr. Watts: Alt, Bakken, Ducat, Geiger, Huse, Munsterman, Perkinson, Watts, Williams. The following members cast their vote for the second nominee Ms. Crow: Bard, Behrends, Crow, McGinnis, Whitlow. Mr. Watts accepted election as County Board Vice-Chairman with the vote 9 to 5.

ADOPT ROBERT’S RULES OF ORDER

It was moved by Mr. McGinnis and seconded to adopt Robert’s Rule of Order for the conduct of County Board meetings. The motion carried by a voice vote.

MOTION

It was moved by Mrs. Bakken and seconded to recess for 10 minutes so that County Board Chairman Ducat and Vice-Chairman Watts could discuss the committee appointments. Motion carried by a voice vote.

MOTION

It was moved by Mr. McGinnis and seconded to enter back into session. Motion carried by a voice vote.

COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS

Chairman Ducat presented the following committee appointments. It was moved by Mrs. Bakken and seconded to accept the committee appointments as presented. Motion carried by a voice vote.

Policy & Procedure- Ducat, Watts, Geiger, Crow, Perkinson, Alt, Whitlow

Management- Perkinson, Bakken, Crow, Whitlow, Bard, Watts

ARPA- Ducat, Crow, Alt, Watts, Geiger

ADJOURNMENT

It was moved by Mr. Geiger and seconded to adjourn at 10:02 A.M. Motion carried by a voice vote. The next County Board meeting will be held in Watseka, Illinois at the Administrative Center on Tuesday December 10, 2024 at 9:00 A.M.
