State Representative Jackie Haas is set to begin her third term in office as the 104th General Assembly convenes on January 8, 2025. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve, Haas stated, "It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve you and I look forward to another productive year as your Representative!"
Haas discussed the 'Lame Duck' session that started on January 4, 2025. She highlighted concerns about past misuse of this period by Illinois legislators to pass unpopular policies, citing the SAFE-T Act from 2021 as an example. Haas committed to opposing any potential tax hikes or harmful policies during this session.
The newsletter also highlighted local initiatives and events attended by Haas. She recognized Garden of Prayer Youth Center for its contributions to youth services and celebrated infrastructure improvements in Peotone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Haas participated in various community events, including tree lighting ceremonies and festive gatherings throughout her district. She also attended significant conferences such as the Community Behavioral Healthcare Association’s 2024 Conference, where she contributed to discussions on mental health legislation.
Looking ahead, Haas announced a funding opportunity through OSFM Grants for local fire departments interested in rehabilitation or construction projects. Additionally, she encouraged constituents to participate in her 2025 Legislative Survey for input on legislative matters.
