State Representative Jackie Haas is once again organizing the "Valentines for Veterans" initiative, marking its fifth year. The program invites community members to drop off cards at Rep. Haas’ district office located at 370 E. Court Street in Kankakee until February 11th. These cards will be distributed to veterans living at the Manteno Veterans Home by Valentine's Day.
Rep. Haas expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “I am excited to launch my fifth annual Valentines for Veterans Drive to show appreciation for our veterans.” She highlighted the sacrifices made by veterans and described the letters as a way to express gratitude: “Veterans have made great sacrifices to protect the freedom of our nation and these letters are just one small way for us to show our thanks.”
The drive has been successful in previous years, with strong community participation. Rep. Haas added, “This drive is always a huge success with members of our community showing up for local veterans, and I look forward to seeing that support once again this year.”
