Public Participation: None

Items for Discussion:

• Additional Drone -

Chief Swinford discussed getting a new drone to help with public safety. Drones have helped in the past with Alzheimer’s patients and a suspect who fled into a field, drone followed them and helped find them. Officer Nelson is trained in using drones and would like a new one that the battery last longer, is able to be used in the rain and moisture. A new drone would cost approximately $10,000 and that is what was budgeted. Trustee Gesky asked how many of our officers are certified to use drones. Chief Swinford said currently only Officer Nelson. They needed to get someone else through training especially if we are going to have two drones. Mayor Nugent suggested getting two new drones with better technology. Chief Swinford suggested getting one now and possible a second one in May with the new budget.

• Significant Case Updates (see packet)–

A man that was arrested last summer for having a stolen gun at the Square on Second just recently got out of prison and lives in Sunny Acers was arrested again for stolen gun and should go to prison for a significant amount of time.

• Monthly Stats - See packet for details.

• Personnel Update –

o Officer Mrazek will graduate on Thursday from PTI

o Swore in one new Officer last night and will swear in a second Officer before they leave for PTI training January 6th

• Damage/Vandalism Recap – Issued three tickets for vandalism\

• Misc:

o Need to get new picture of Police Department and new list of phone numbers for police officers.

o Cameras at Thies Park are functioning. Waiting for internet connection to see live feed. Trustee Dole asked who keeps up with cameras now? Chief Swinford said Ryan keeps up with cameras.

o Bruce Hill, Mr. Hanley, and Mr. LaRocque are working with Fiber Internet companies to see if they can help with the internet to all village cameras.
