Village of Herscher Board of Trustees met Jan. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Village President Shannon Sweeney called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The following Trustees were present: Mike Bruner, Skip Grigas, Gayle Landeck, and Jeremy Bauer. Jacob Wagner and Andy Cotter were absent. Also, present Village Deputy Clerk Vannessa Weaver, Police Chief Kurt Quick, Public Works Employee Keith Witheft, Janet Mau from The Herscher Pilot, Attorney Chris Bohlen, Audrey from Surf and resident Lauren Ruel.

Gayle Landeck moved to approve the Regular minutes of December 16, 2024; Mike Bruner seconded. Motion carried. 4-0-2 Skip Grigas and Jeremy Bauer abstained as they were absent from the last meeting.

STREETS:

Nothing to report.

FINANCE:

Mike Bruner presented the Accounts Payable Report totaling $60,531.42 to the Board for payment. Mike Bruner moved to accept the accounts payable as presented. Jeremy Bauer seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-aye, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

Payroll presented totaled $23,598.84. Mike Bruner moved to accept payroll as presented, Jeremy Bauer seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-aye, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

PARKS:

Nothing to report.

WATER AND SEWER:

Jeremy Bauer about the watermain break on Christmas and thanked Kieth and Chad for their hard work and all the time they spent getting it fixed. He added that he is still working on getting the loan from the EPA.

ORDINANCE:

Gayle Landeck let the Board know that Ordinance #25-01 Building Code Update isn’t ready yet and Attorney Chris Bohlen will be reaching out to Heather to get it finished for the next meeting. There has been a letter typed up and will be sent to the Capital Development Board.

Gayle Landeck added that there was only 1 permit in the month of December in the amount of $80.00.

POLICE:

Chief Kurt Quick thanked everyone for coming to the Christmas Party and said that Vannessa and Heather will be taking it over.

OLD BUSINESS:

Mike Burner made a motion to hire Laura Peters as Deputy Treasurer at a pay rate of $100.00 a month. Skip Grigas seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-aye, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

Gayle Landeck let the Board know that she spoke to the manager at Dollar General, and they should be getting new lights soon.

NEW BUSINESS:

Deputy Village Clerk Vannessa Weaver spoke to the Board about Comcast being cancelled due to using Surf now. The Board agreed and we will be canceling soon.

OPEN TO THE FLOOR:

Nothing to report.

Motion to adjourn by Gayle Landeck. Seconded by Jeremy Bauer. All in favor. Motion carried.
