Approval of Minutes

• Cathy Dundas made a motion to approve minutes for December 9, 2024; Sue Schafroth seconded the motion.

Public Questions and Comments

• Carol LeClair discussed etched bricks for sale cost is $70.00 per brick, for the free little library. Carol handed out forms for the sale of bricks.

• Ben Potts discussed the semis going down west third. Asked if something could be done about the semi traffic. Discussed police being on duty during the same day.

• Ben Potts asked if the plowing could be done closer to the curbs. Tim Kent discussed still in the process of training, and it was the first time they have been out this year, and things will improve with training.

• Jason Hamende discussed support and chain of command, and who to go to for purchases for a final decision. Sue Schafroth, Sandy Tammen and Jason discussed quick books.

Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals

Department Reports

• Maintenance Department

o Tim Kent discussed estimates for a new door at the town shed, estimates came in from Lemenager at $6,275.00, and Rieken at $7,843.35 for one door. Two doors need

replacement.

o Chad Ulitzsch made a motion not to exceed $15,000.00 for two new overhead doors for the maintenance building. John Tammen seconded the motion.

• Motion passes 6-0.

o Tim Kent discussed the electric salt spreader and the two bids he received. Kankakee Truck’s estimate was $8,885.00 and would take dump truck in trade for the job. Clauss Specialties bid was $8,725.00. Tim discussed that Chebanse Township was also interested in buying the dump truck for $8,725.00.

o Chad Ulitzsch made a motion to purchase the salt spreader, and to sell village dump truck, as is, to Chebanse township. Cathy Dundas seconded the motion.

• Building and Zoning Department

• Police Department

Streets and Alleys Committee

Water and Sewer Committee

• Jeff Hall gave a monthly update on ERH. Discussed having a future meeting out at the sewer plant.

• Trenton discussed the water leak on West fourth and Hancock has not been fixed. Jeff discussed whether Haley Brothers are not able to get it fixed, that we should look for another company.

Police and Public Safety Committee

• Cathy Dundas made a motion not to exceed $1,100.00 for a new computer for the police department. Paul Hess seconded the motion.

• Jim Lehmkuhl discussed that angel donation was successful, and people were grateful.

Budget and Finance Committee

• Sue Schafroth made a motion to approve and sign a contract with waste management for 5 years, with an increase not to exceed $7.00 at the end of 5 years. Jeff Hall seconded the motion.

• Sue Schafroth made a motion not to exceed $300.85 to add Trenton's Salary to get the actuarial report done for our cost to have IMRF approved. Jeff Hall seconded the motion.

• Paul Hess made a motion not to exceed $70.00 for the purchase of a brick for the little library. Jeff Hall seconded the motion. Trustees will determine what to write on it, later.

• Sandy Tammen discussed the Treasurer Report.

• Sue made a motion to approve the treasurer report, Cathy Dundas seconded the motion.

• Motion passes 6-0.

• Sue Schafroth made a motion to put CD #17 into 12-month CD at 3.64 % at Iroquois Federal. Jeff Hall seconded the motion.

Old Business

• Discussed water and sewer town meeting on February 1, 2024, 11:00 a.m., confirmed date and time.

Village President

Concluding Public Questions and Comments

• Discussed water bill letter that went out with a $50 charge for a late fee. Letters sent out on late water payments will be reviewed by Randy Gigl.

• Jeff Hall discussed the new water system reading is not correct, Jeff read a water report on a new customer. Discussed that Trenton and Tim will review the accounts numbers on the system to make sure everything is matched up and make corrections.

• Sandy Tammen handed in a letter of resignation, which will go into effect at the end of the fiscal year. Sandy discussed how she will help train and transition the new person into the treasurer position.

John Tammen made a motion to adjourn at 8:53p.m. Jeff Hall second the motion.
