Village of Herscher Board of Trustees met Jan. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Village President Shannon Sweeney called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The following Trustees were present: Mike Bruner, Gayle Landeck, Skip Grigas and Andy Cotter. Jeremy Bauer and Jacob Wagner were absent. Also, Village Clerk Heather Meredith, Police Chief Kurt Quick, Public Works Employee Keith Witheft, Resident Lauren Ruel, and Herscher Pilot Editor Janet Mau (Zoom).

Skip Grigas moved to approve the Regular minutes of January 6, 2025; Gayle Landeck seconded. Motion carried. 3-0-1 Andy Cotter abstained as they were absent from the last meeting.

STREETS:

Nothing to report.

FINANCE:

Payroll presented totaled $29,609.02. Mike Bruner moved to accept payroll as presented, Skip Grigas seconded. Roll call taken Jacob Wagner-absent, Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-aye, Gayle Landeck aye, Skip Grigas-aye, and Jeremy Bauer-absent. All in favor; motion carried.

Mike Bruner presented the Accounts Payable Report totaling $22,699.64 to the Board for payment. Mike Bruner moved to accept the accounts payable as presented. Skip Grigas seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-aye, Skip Grigas-aye, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Jacob Wagner-absent, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

Mike Bruner added:

-The Regular Sales Tax is in at $25,671.77.

-The 1% Non-Home Rule Sales Tax is in at $13,029.88.

-The Telecom Tax is in at the amount of $1,055.36.

-The Local Share of Income Tax collected is at $27,794.71.

-The Local Share of the State Use Tax is in at $3,988.20.

-The Local Share of Cannabis Use Tax collected is in at $214.09.

-The Local Share of Video Gaming Tax collected is in at $2,817.90.

PARKS:

Nothing to report.

WATER AND SEWER:

Working on filling out the EPA Loan Application with Al for water main replacement on Park Road.

ORDINANCE:

Gayle Landeck moved to suspend the rules that require 2 readings of an ordinance. Skip Grigas seconded. Roll call taken Jacob Wagner-absent, Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-aye, Gayle Landeck aye, Skip Grigas-aye, and Jeremy Bauer-absent. All in favor; motion carried.

Gayle Landeck moved to place Ordinance #25-01 on its final passage. Skip Grigas seconded. Roll call taken, Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-aye, Jacob Wagner-absent, Gayle Landeck-aye, Skip Grigas aye, and Jeremy Bauer-absent. All in favor; motion carried.

The Comcast internet and cable has been canceled as a back up internet. The Board minutes are going to be written differently showing actions taken and need to be taken at next meeting. It will be a trial for 6 months to see if it works for us.

POLICE:

Nothing to report

OLD BUSINESS:

We have yet to see any of the 2 grants from the state.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mike Bruner asked if it is necessary that we have 2 meetings a month. Attorney Bolen stated we could cancel the meeting if we have no business to be handled. We will continue with the posted two meetings a month and at the first meeting of the month it will be decided if the second one is needed. We can call a special meeting if necessary.
