State Representative Jackie Haas of Kankakee has selected Rubber Rose Books & Print as her February Local Business Spotlight. During a visit to the business, Rep. Haas presented a certificate of appreciation to the owner, recognizing their community contributions.

“For my February 2025 local business spotlight, I am honored to recognize Rubber Rose Books & Print in Kankakee,” said Rep. Haas. “Rubber Rose provides affordable books and a great space for our community to come together. Because they accept used books, Rubber Rose is able to sell books at a discounted price and even offer some outside for free, ensuring reading remains accessible to everyone.”

Nicole Barnett purchased Rubber Rose Books & Print in 2022 after changing her career path. In addition to selling books, she creates and distributes the weekly Kankakee and Iroquois County Public Records Bulletin and offers basic copy and print services. The store also features a back lounge where customers can enjoy free coffee and tea.

Rep. Haas concluded, “Nicole’s dedication to providing a community space and affordable books for everyone has improved the lives of so many residents in our area. I truly commend her work and mission to build up our community.”

Located at 111 E. Court Street in Kankakee, Rubber Rose Books & Print operates from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM Wednesday through Friday and from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday. More information is available on their website at RubberRoseBookshop.com.
