State Representative Jackie Haas (IL) | Representative Jackie Haas (R) 79th District
February was a busy month for State Representative Jackie Haas, marked by legislative sessions, Governor J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State Address, and the conclusion of Former House Speaker Michael Madigan's corruption trial.
Haas expressed dissatisfaction with Governor Pritzker’s address, stating: "I am incredibly disappointed by Governor Pritzker’s partisan and divisive State of the State and Budget Address." She criticized the governor's approach to budgeting, saying that Illinois Democrats have ignored warnings about unsustainable practices from the House Republican Caucus. Haas emphasized her commitment to opposing future tax hikes and advocating for a balanced budget.
The guilty verdict against Former House Speaker Michael Madigan on February 12th was met with approval from Haas. She remarked: "I applaud this guilty verdict that condemns the unethical, pay-to-play era of governance that Illinoisans have become all too familiar with." Haas called for increased ethics reform in response to Madigan's conviction and expressed hope that it would motivate bipartisan action against corruption.
Haas also participated in various community events throughout her district. These included attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Wags to Riches, meeting local Boy Scout troops, attending the Will County Board breakfast, and delivering contributions collected during the Valentines for Veterans drive.
In addition to these activities, Haas announced upcoming events such as an IDFPR Licensing event on March 27th and encouraged constituents to participate in her 2025 Legislative Survey. She also urged support for homeschooling freedom through a petition.
Representative Haas will be moving her district office to a new location at 187 S. Schuyler Avenue, Suite 110 in Kankakee. Constituents are invited to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding state issues.
