Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met Feb. 18.

Roll Call was taken, all present except Mr. Morgan, and Ms. Wiedl

Public Comments:
Valgene Raloff read a prepared statement concerning the proposal by Pres. Hawkins to open the Community Center Monday through Thursday for citizens to use. He expressed concerns for theft and breakage to supplies and equipment, vandalism, graffiti, destruction of property, cleanup, overall supervision during the day, and other concerns. Pres Hawkins replied she feels this could be a help to citizens for “something to do” especially in the winter. Board discussion was held concerning the matter
John Veldhuizen spoke, as a follow-up to last meeting seeking answers concerning Pres. Hawkins legal matter as to whether a President Pro-Tem was appointed while in jail, and when the Board was notified of the situation. Pres Hawkins replied only to she was sure Chief Frey called the Board right away.
Departmental Reports:
Clerk Dillman: reminder to local retail businesses that sales tax rate increased to 7 1/4%. Also, early voting for the April 1 will open in early March. No date set as of yet.
Attorney: G9 synthetic marijuana is legal to sell in stores
Ordinance & Insurance, Wiedl: absent

Community Outreach, Detloff: gave a report on the P/L concerning the Cabin Fever Reliever, which had a $8,909 overall profit. Again, thanked all that helped make it successful.

Discussion on replacing ceiling tiles in Community Center, no decision taken
Law Enforcement, Whorrall: reported 97 calls in January, with breakdown
Pres. Hawkins: had a request for a Golf Cart Parade, will attend Mayor Dinner on 2/19, mentioned events of Harbor House, and Salvation Army
