Village of Herscher Board of Trustees met Feb. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Trustee Mike Bruner called the meeting to order the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The following Trustees were present: Gayle Landeck, Skip Grigas, and Jacob Wagner. Trustees Jeremy Bauer, Andy Cotter, and Village President Shannon Sweeney were absent. Also, present Village Clerk Heather Meredith, Police Chief Kurt Quick, Janet Mau from The Herscher Pilot (Zoom), Attorney Chris Bohlen, and residents Lauren Ruel and Lori Teaders.

Jacob Wagner moved to approve the Regular minutes of February 3, 2025; Gayle Landeck seconded. Motion carried. 3-0-1 Skip Grigas abstained as if they were absent from the last meeting.

Gayle Landeck moved to approve the Executive minutes of February 3, 2025; Jacob Wagner seconded. Motion carried. 3-0-1 Skip Grigas abstained as if they were absent from the last meeting.

STREETS:

Jacob said that engineer Al Deany is still working on budget numbers for alley aprons.

FINANCE:

Mike Bruner presented the Accounts Payable Report totaling $17,807.22 to the Board for payment. Skip Grigas moved to accept the accounts payable as presented. Jacob Wagner seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-aye, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

Payroll presented totaled $23,139.22. Skip Grigas moved to accept payroll as presented, Jacob seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-aye, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

Mike Bruner went over the revenue and expense report. The Board had some suggestions on some wording to be added to the sheet.

PARKS:

Nothing to report

WATER AND SEWER:

Mike Bruner says we are still exploring how water and sewer will continue with hiring, whether it’s an entry level person or an experienced person.

ORDINANCE:

Gayle Landeck moved to pass Resolution #25-01 for Cancelation of the March 3rd Meeting. Jacob Wagner seconded. Roll call taken Mike Bruner-aye, Andy Cotter-absent, Jeremy Bauer-absent, Skip Grigas-aye, Jacob Wagner-aye, and Gayle Landeck-aye. All in favor; Motion Carried.

POLICE:

Chief Quick says we are having issues with stop arm violations in the school district. He said that he can write tickets in Herscher but the other ones mainly on Rte. 17 would be a State Police or County issue unfortunately. He said that they average 4-5 a day. The cameras that are on the buses can get good footage of the violators.

OLD BUSINESS:

Heather Meredith asked for clarification on what is to be paid to employees’ working holidays. After some discussion, holiday pay is paid double the time for all full-time employees if they work a holiday and do not plan on using it another day.

OPEN TO THE FLOOR:

Lori Teaders wanted to express her thanks to the public works employees on their hard work for the water main breaks over the holidays.

Lori wanted to ask for the support of the Board for the Legion Auxiliary for purchasing benches. She is requesting the Village to purchase, and they would reimburse the Village since we are tax exempt. The Board think it is a very generous and great idea and agreed to assist.

Motion to adjourn by Skip Grigas. Seconded by Gayle Landeck. All in favor. Motion carried.
