State Representative Jackie Haas has introduced legislation aimed at enhancing communication between assisted living and nursing home providers and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). The proposed House Bill 3428, which recently passed through the Human Services Committee, seeks to mandate semiannual joint training sessions. These sessions would involve providers and surveyors discussing topics such as quality of care and potential violations.

"House Bill 3428 is another step towards improving our assisted living and nursing facilities in Illinois," stated Rep. Haas. "If passed, the semi-annual training requirement will allow for more communication between care providers and IDPH, ensuring everyone is on the same page and able to move forward in the best interest of patients. I look forward to seeing continued bipartisan support on this bill that is a win-win for everyone involved."

The bill now awaits further consideration on the House floor.
