City of Watseka Code Enforcement Committee met March 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Aldermen Miller, Muench, Anderson, Barragree, Cahoe, Marcier, Alderwomen Rohlfs and DeLahr and Mayor Allhands

GUEST: Karlee Macer with Labor’s Home Development Corp.

Alderman Miller opened the meeting at 6:35 pm. There was no public comment. Karlee Macer with Labor’s Home Development Corp spoke first. She gave a brief update of the project. She handed out a proposed site plan and rendering. The proposal is for 50 units, (20-2-bedroom, 20-3-bedroom, 10-4 bedroom). She stated her company will hire all the laborers for the project along with the manager. When tenants want to rent there are strict guidelines for them along with a background check. It was stated the city could purchase the property for $90,000 and this would go towards the application process. There will more discussion on this at later meetings.

Alderman Miller reported on the following properties for Building Inspector Eric Brandt who was gone to an IAFSM Conference:

IDNR Mitigation: 3 properties are out for bid due back 4/4/25.

617 S 5th St: asbestos has been abated and demolition was scheduled for 3-10-25 Flood Plain Manager: Eric is being awarded Flood Plain Manager of the year and an award will be presented to him at the IAFSM Conference that his is attending.

Alderman Marcier makes a motion to adjourn at 7:06 pm and Alderwoman Rohlfs seconded. Roll call carried 9-0.
