State Representative Jackie Haas, a Republican from Kankakee, joined her colleagues State Representatives Jeff Keicher of Sycamore and Joe Sosnowski of Rockford in a call for relief for taxpayers across Illinois. At a press conference, Haas highlighted the financial pressures facing families as tax day approached.
“With tax day right around the corner, Illinois families are feeling the strain of a bloated tax burden and a poor job market,” said Haas. She emphasized the adverse effects on hardworking citizens if legislative efforts were not aimed at alleviating these burdens and promoting easier living conditions in Illinois.
Haas stated, “But the House Republican Caucus doesn’t just point out issues, we offer real and tangible solutions. My colleagues and I have been introducing legislation focused on tackling the tax burden, supporting workers and families, and lowering the cost of living."
Despite their efforts, Haas expressed disappointment that their proposed legislation had failed to advance in committee and remained unaddressed on the House floor. “This cannot continue. Illinoisans deserve a government that works for them, not one that insists on growing their out-of-control spending habits on the taxpayers’ dime,” she said.
