Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met March 17,

6:30PM Meeting called to Order / Pledge
Roll Call was taken, all members present
*Motion to approve minutes from the previous 3/03/25 meeting
Motion: Morgan 2nd: Whorrall Motion Carried 5-0-1 Bruni abstaining
Public Comments: Scott Dillman, representing the Grant Park Foundation, spoke of a project of replacing a swing at the Community Center Park with a “Mommy and Me” swing, a 2 seated swing for a baby and adult. Another project being looked in to is a ground level slide to be installed at Heldt Park on the hill. Both projects are at no cost to the Village and will be voted on next month.
*Motion to approve Bills for Payment: <3/14/25 General Fund $14,233.29, 3/01/25 Payroll $19,866.12 <3/14/25 Stipend $3,189.79

Departmental Reports:
Clerk Dillman: due to a conflict for April 7th’ meeting, has asked Steve Brower to take minutes that meeting, Board gave approval
Ordinance & Insurance, Wiedl: no report
Streets & Alleys, Passini: no report
Finance, Morgan:
*Motion to approve a 4% raise to all full-time employees, and part time officers
Motion: Morgan 2nd: Bruni Motion Carried 6-0-0
*Motion to approve purchase of an APC Smart Back-up Battery for the Village server not to exceed $1200 for unit, installation, and disposal of current unit

Community Outreach: reported Surf Air is 85% complete on main trunk line installation, has started with home installation, projected to be finished in June
Blood Drive sponsored by N.H.S.at the High School April 3rd, starting at 12PM
Building & Grounds, Bruni: no report
Law Enforcement, Whorrall: reported 74 calls in February, with breakdown of types of calls
Chief Frey: will begin property enforcement. Also spoke of a deal proposed with Beecher, to donate our unused 2006 Police Car to their ESDA Department, in trade for them to cover our ESDA needs. Deal to be worked out, and presented later
Pres Hawkins: Spoke of the ongoing Line Dancing class and will have a motion for next meeting to allow it to continue at no cost. March 27th Business after hours at Bourbonnais Midland Bank, will donate $50 to Kankakee County Fair. Pres Hawkins read Ordinance 1-5-6 in response to being questioned over her allowing the Painter to be in Village Hall alone after hours. Easter event April 13th 1-3PM. Grant Park hosting Mayor meeting April 16th
