Iroquois County residents rank 71st in total sales taxes paid in Illinois for 2023

Iroquois County taxpayers ranked 71st in total sales taxes paid per county in 2023, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, residents paid approximately $1.7 million in sales taxes during 2023.

The county also ranked 71st in the Prairie State the year before, with approximately $1.7 million spent in sales taxes.

The largest share of sales taxes paid by Iroquois County residents in 2023 came from the Countywide Sales Tax.

The Countywide Sales Tax, a crucial revenue stream, is primarily allocated for county governments' use.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
