City of Watseka Code Enforcement Committee met April 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Aldermen Miller, Anderson, Marcier, Cahoe, Barragree, Muench, Alderwomen Rohlfs and DeLahr and Mayor Allhands

GUEST: Building Inspector Eric Brandt, Dennis VanHoveln with the American Legion

Alderman Miller opened the meeting at 6:45, there was no public comment. Building Inspector Eric Brandt reported on the following properties:

Legion Park Baseball lighting: Dennis VanHoveln was in attendance asking the council for approval to put up lights at the ball diamond for night games, they are thinking this might bring in tournaments also. The committee is ok with the lights.

IDNR Flood Mitigation: Phase XIX demolition bids from Lee Excavating for $45,500.00. Alderman Miller makes a motion to recommend to the council to accept the aggregate bid of $45,500.00 and Alderman Muench seconded. Roll call carried 9-0. BCEGS: This is the Building Code Effectiveness Grading System-currently the city is at a class 8 in order to get a class 7 the city needs to work together with the CRS to get higher classification there and then in turn this would help the BCEGS class.

Eric stated he received his award for flood plain manager of the year. He hopes in the future the City of Watseka could be awarded that award.

901 N Chicago St: Eric stated this house has been empty for years, no water for several years, the windows are now broken out and he believes that it would be in the best interest of the city of move forward with going directly to the City Attorney instead of doing citations. The committee is ok with this.

Alderman Miller makes a motion to adjourn at 6:54 and Alderman Muench seconded. Roll call carried 9-0.
