State Representative Jackie Haas has announced the start of her fifth annual summer reading program. The initiative invites students from Kindergarten to 5th grade to read ten or more books by August 15, 2025. Books with over 150 pages will count as two books. Students who complete the program will be invited to an ice cream party and certificate ceremony later in the summer.
Rep. Haas expressed her enthusiasm for the program, stating, “I am excited to offer my annual summer reading program again this summer! This program is a great way to encourage kids to remain active readers during the summer months, which is critical to ensuring a smooth transition back to school in the fall. I invite all interested students to participate and join our celebration for their achievements in late summer!”
Participants can submit their completed forms online or at Rep. Haas’ district office located at 187 S Schuyler Avenue, Suite 110 in Kankakee. Parents are required to verify the information on these forms.
