Westmont Village Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met May 15.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
1. Call To Order: Chairperson Qualizza called the meeting of the Westmont Board of Fire and Police Commissioners to order at 2:05 p.m.
2. Roll Call: Chair Qualizza called the roll as follows: Chairperson Qualizza -Present, Secretary Mulhearn-Present, Commissioner Baldwin-Present. A quorum was present Guest: Deputy Chief Brian Gruen
3. Public Comment: None (no one was from the public was present)
4. New Business:
Candidate # 65 from the non-lateral eligibility list:
1. Candidate 65 participated in a polygraph examination. His results were reviewed and discussion followed.
Chairperson Qualizza made a motion to pass Candidate # 65 onto the next phase of the testing process (Detective Division Review) . Seconded by Commissioner Baldwin
VOTE In favor of motion = 3 Opposed=0 Motion Carried
2. A vote for the Board Officers was held. Chairperson Qualizza made a motion that the 2025-2026 the board of officers starting On June 1, 2025 will be:
President: Commissioner Mulhearn
Secretary: Commissioner Qualizza
3. Chairperson Qualizza recommended all Commissioners come up with questions they may have for our Board Attorney concerning our hiring and testing processes. It was decided that Chair Qualizza will contact the attorney on their availability at our regular June 17, 2025 board meeting. Commissioners should have their questions ready by our May 29th, 2025 meeting so they can be forwarded onto the attorney.

4. The Commission reviewed its actions/practices concerning emails, forms etc. 5. May 29, 2025 (Thursday) was set for the next regular Commission meeting.
5. Invoices:
Conrad Polygraph dated 04-30-25 Invoice # 6547 Amount:$400.00
Testing for two (2) candidates
Motion by Chair Qualizza to pay the bill., Seconded by Mulhearn
VOTE: In favor of motion= 3 Opposed= 0 Motion Carried
6. Old Business: The testing process with I/O Solutions is on-going and will occur during the upcoming summer. It was also determined that all ads for future testing will include benefits in addition to salaries etc.
7. Adjournment: Chair Qualizza made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:45 p.m. Seconded by Commissioner Mulhearn, All in favor and the meeting was adjourned.
