State Representative Jackie Haas of Kankakee has joined her Republican colleagues in a legal challenge against Illinois Democrats. The lawsuit aims to enforce the Third Reading Rule as outlined in the Illinois Constitution concerning Senate Bill 328. This rule is intended to ensure transparency in legislative processes.

Haas stated, "The unending rule-breaking by Illinois Democrats must stop. We are fighting to restore transparency and accountability to the people we were elected to serve. When Constitutional rules are broken, it’s the people of Illinois who suffer the most."

The Third Reading Rule requires that bills be read by title three times on separate days before final debate and passage. Republicans argue that this process is crucial for adequate review and debate of legislation, which they claim has been bypassed by Democrats rushing bills through without proper scrutiny.

Haas emphasized, "Enough is enough. It’s time for us to take action and end this blatant disregard of the Illinois Constitution. The people of Illinois deserve better."
