Westmont Village Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met May 29.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call To Order: Chairperson Qualizza called the meeting of the Westmont Board of Fire and Police Commissioners to order at 5:45 p.m.

Roll Call: Chair Qualizza called the roll as follows: Chairperson Qualizza -Present, Secretary Mulhearn-Present, Commissioner Baldwin-Present. A quorum was present

Public Comment: None (no one was from the public was present)

New Business:

1. It was preferred that our next meeting be at the Village Hall in the conference room so we can accommodate our village attorney. It was also suggested that Commissioner Qualiza contact the attorney to arrange for their appearance at our next meeting (6-17-25). Commissioners should submit their questions to Commissioner Qualizza so she can forward them to our attorney.

2. Commissioner Baldwin notified the Commission that he tendered his resignation prior to this meeting for personal reasons. He was unhappy that he had to take this action but felt it the best. The Commission wished him nothing but the best and success in the future. His resignation takes effect at the end of today’s meeting.

3. The commission reviewed the test results from Candidate #67 from the polygraph company. Discussion followed. Chair Qualizza made a motion to pass this candidate onto the next phase of the testing process (Detective Review)

VOTE In favor- 0 Opposed-3 Motion Failed

The commission reviewed the test results from Candidate #70 from the polygraph company. Discussion followed. Commissioner Mulhearn made a motion to pass this

VOTE In favor- 0 Opposed-3 Motion Failed

4. The Commission reviewed the number of applications received for our next test by I/O Solutions.

The ad notifying the general public (required by rules and regulations) was posted and printed in the Suburban Life.

Invoices: None

Minutes: The following minutes were reviewed and a motion made by Chair Qualizza to approve the minutes as read. Second by Commissioner Baldwin.

April 15, 2025- regular meeting minutes

April 26, 2025- special meeting

May 15, 2025- Special Meeting

VOTE: Approved=3 Opposed=0 Motion Passed

After a brief discussion the board voted to approve all minutes for 2024 & 2025 up to the May 15, 2025 meeting.

Motion was made by Chair Qualiza to approve all the past minutes, Seconded by Baldwin

VOTE: Approved=3 Opposed= 0 Motion Passed

Old Business: The testing process with I/O Solutions is on-going and will occur during the upcoming summer. It was also determined that all ads for future testing will include benefits in addition to salaries etc.

Adjournment: Chair Qualizza made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Seconded by Commissioner Mulhearn, All in favor and the meeting was adjourned.
