Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met June 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

6:30PM Meeting called to Order / Pledge

Roll call was Taken, all members present

*Motion to approve Board minutes from 5/19/25 as presented

        Motion: Wiedl       2nd: Martz        Motion Carried 6-0-0

*Motion to approve minutes from 5/19/25 Meeting of the Whole

        Motion: Whorrall      2nd: Martz      Motion Carried 6-0-0

Public Comments: Nancy Sanachetz asked concerning the agenda item Griffin Gate. Pres. Detloff stated that this will be discussed later in the meeting, and any remaining questions will be answered then, she agreed.

*Motion to approve Bills for Payment: <5/29/25 General Fund $14,517.54, M.F.T $744.44, Fest Fund $67.12, T.I.F. $50.00 <5/24/25 Payroll $20,966.14

         Motion: Morgan         2nd: Wiedl       Motion Carried 6-0-0

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman: no report.

Attorney: Pres. Detloff has spoken to them over a couple topics, will be discussed at a later date

Engineer report: Pres Detloff met with them recently, Hilgert Park project could start soon, train and sign will remain where they are. Street Scape down town project could also begin soon, first will be gas line location movement. Spoke of a grant available to engineer phase 2 of the Streetscape project for free, and a voice vote was taken to proceed.

Ordinance & Insurance, Wiedl: First reading held Ordinance O-6-25-1 Appropriations for fiscal year 2026

Streets & Alleys, Whorrall: sign being blocked be a tree branch on Maple St, has been cleared

Thermostat in Park fridge has been repaired, alley dragging will begin, weather permitting, flag holders on poles to be replaced where needed, reminder Maintenance hours  7-3:30 M-F

Weed care in sidewalks are responsibility of the home owners

Finance, Morgan: Mr. Morgan spoke of the application for a project at 109 W. Taylor St. They have filed for TIF funds of over $380,000. Much discussion was held to this amount, age and condition of the building, and then overall value upon completion. Inspector Karstensen asked for a structural Engineer report to view. It was stated that TIF amount could be adjusted by the Board. Vote tabled for a later date

Community Outreach, Brower: recent 5K run/walk was a success. Another planned for 6/29/25. Fest meeting 6/04/25 6PM Community Center. Garage sale Days 6/20-21, Wick’s Family bike ride 6/4/25. And a congrats to all graduates

Building & Grounds, Quinn: questioned why there wasn’t a port-a-potty at Hilgert Park. Pres Detloff stated there will be one in the near future

Law Enforcement, Martz: discussed changes to use of the walking path to Dollar General to allow golf carts. Vote tabled to a later date. Discussed proposed camera purchase from KCMD tabled for next meeting.

*Motion to increase part time officers pay to $26/hr. beginning June 1 2025

Pres. Detloff: introduced Building Inspector Chris Karstensen to the Board. He gave a brief report to what has been happening in town. Read a “Thank You” not from the Maldanado Family for use of the Community Center, reported over $20,000 was raised. Appraised for the Pepin Property should be by in the next couple weeks. Dispensary is still moving forward, hopes to open in 30-60 days.
