Kankakee County Executive Committee met June 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Members Present

Ms. Parker, Mr. Carrico, Mr. Hunter, Ms. Foster, Ms. Webber, Mr. Alexander-Hildebrand, Ms. Polk, Mr. Long, Ms. Munday, Mr. Fetherling, Mr. Kerkstra

Ms. Webber made a motion to allow Mr. Fetherling to attend the meeting by Zoom and Mr. Long seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by the County Board Chairman, Mr. Alexander-Hildebrand, at 9:00 a.m.

Presentations

Approval of Minutes: May 21, 2025

Mr. Hunter made a motion to approve the minutes and Mr. Carrico seconded. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Legislative

Information Services – Jason Shane

Mr. Shane gave an update on what his department has been working on. They continue to replace computers to get the offices up to Windows 11 and they also continue to do their daily service calls.

Health Department – John Bevis

• Administrators Report

Mr. Carrico made a motion to accept and put his report on file and Ms. Munday seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Mr. Bevis reviewed his report with the committee. Discussion was held.

Mr. Bevis reviewed upcoming events that they are working on for the month of June.

Mr. Bevis stated that they have hired a sanitarian to take the place of an employee that retired.

Schools – Patricia High

• Monthly Report

Dr. Patricia High reviewed the regional office’s core function of regulatory compliance and oversight.

Discussion was held.

Veterans Assistance Commission – Eric Peterson

• Monthly Report

Mr. Peterson reviewed the report with the committee. Discussion was held.

Ms. Munday made a motion to accept and put on file the report and Ms. Webber seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Mr. Peterson updated the committee on what his department has been doing to help our veterans. They will have a graduation from the Veteran Treatment Court at the end of June.

His office welcomed the County Auditor, Mr. Ekhoff, and his assistant, Ms. Hess, into their office just to make sure that they are operating well within compliance of the standard procedures that Mr. Ekhoff has been working on. He was grateful that they made time to stop by their office.

County Administrator – Anita Speckman

Ms. Speckman was not in attendance.

Community Services

• County Assessor’s Monthly Report

Mr. Hunter made a motion to accept the report and put it on file and Mr. Long seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Mr. Blair reviewed this report with the committee. He gave an update on what his department has been working on and what they are expecting in the next month.

• County Clerk’s Monthly Report – Dan Hendrickson

Mr. Hendrickson was not in attendance.

Mr. Carrico made a motion to accept the report and put it on file and Mr. Long seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

• Recorder’s Monthly Report – Lori Gadbois.

Ms. Parker made a motion to accept the report and put it on file and Ms. Polk seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.

Ms. Gadbois reviewed the report with the committee. She updated the committee on what her office has been doing. She discussed the Property Fraud Alert program that is available in her office at no cost to the residents.

Currently they have two active fraud cases going on. They are in discussion in elevating the property fraud task force.

• AWAC Update – Tinker Parker

Ms. Parker stated that she thinks that she may have someone to fill the opening on the AWAC Committee.

Ms. Parker reminded everyone to make sure that pets have water and shelter during the hot summer.

Mr. Hunter made a motion to combine and approve the appointments, reappointments and resignations and Mr. Long seconded the motion. Motion carried with a voice vote. Openings:
