U.S. Representative Robin Kelly posted a series of tweets on August 1 and 2, 2025, addressing both community events in Chicago and national economic concerns.

On August 1, Kelly highlighted her participation in a local event, stating, "I'm honored to join the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 30th annual Black Women’s Expo in Chicago! The theme, 'The Legacy Continues,' perfectly captures the spirit of this incredible event that celebrates and uplifts Black women and their families. Later that day, she commented on federal tax policy: "The IRS Direct Filing Tool was accessible, helpful, and free—all things that make it a great resource for taxpayers. Again, President Trump is raising costs for Americans, not lowering them like promised. https://t.co/YwoEN77CTZ" (posted August 1, 2025).

Continuing her focus on economic issues into the next day, Kelly wrote: "Americans are paying the price for President Trump’s trade war. People can’t afford essential products like detergent and toilet paper — and prices will rise again by another 2.5%. Tell me President Trump, why are you raising costs for Americans? https://t.co/CE0hhl3tmO" (posted August 2, 2025).

Robin Kelly has represented Illinois' Second Congressional District since winning a special election in 2013. She has consistently secured re-election with significant margins over her opponents in general elections from 2014 through 2022.
